07 · Warranty
A roof warranty is two documents.
The manufacturer covers the shingle. The installer covers the install. Most leaks are install problems — a nail in the wrong place, a flashing cut short — so it’s the second document that matters, and it’s only as good as the company still answering the phone.
- Material
- The manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty on the shingle, registered in your name before the truck leaves. Covers manufacturing defects. Doesn’t cover hail, wind beyond the shingle’s rating, or anything the installer did.
- Workmanship
- Ridgeline’s own — ten years, in writing demo term — from the same people who installed it. Covers any leak or failure caused by how the roof was put on. We come out, we look, and if it’s ours, we fix it. No invoice.
- Backed past us
- As a certified installer, the manufacturer stands behind our workmanship warranty even if we were ever to close. Ask for the certificate; it’s the most persuasive piece of paper in roofing and almost nobody explains it. demo — verify tier at swap
- Transfer
- Transfers once to the next owner of the house demo term. A roof with a transferable workmanship warranty is a line in a listing.
Year nine.
You notice a stain by the chimney in March. You call the number on this page. Marisol answers, finds your file — the estimate, the deck photographs, the flashing photographs, the warranty — and Wes is on the roof within the week. If it’s our flashing, it’s fixed and you get the photograph and no invoice. If a mason disturbed it or a satellite installer put a lag bolt through it, we’ll show you that and quote the repair. Either way, the phone got answered by someone who was on the roof the first time.
That’s the whole product. Everything else on this site is how we make sure we’re still here to do it.
What voids a roof warranty.
Both documents, usually. Worth knowing before it happens:
- A roof-over. New shingles nailed over old ones. Most manufacturers won’t warrant it and neither will we — it’s why everything comes off.
- Bad ventilation. An attic that can’t breathe cooks the shingles from underneath. Manufacturers check it when a claim comes in. We check it when we install.
- Someone else’s repair. A handyman’s caulk, a solar installer’s rails, a satellite dish. Call us first — we’ll flash it properly for whoever needs to mount something, and the warranty stays whole.
- Mixed brands. One maker’s shingle over another’s underlayment and a third’s ridge cap. A full-system warranty needs a full system.
Registration.
The manufacturer’s warranty is only worth anything if it’s registered, and it has to be registered by the installer, within a window. We do it before the walk-through and you get the confirmation by email that evening. If a roofer hands you a brochure and says “you’ll want to register that”, ask why they didn’t.
The workmanship warranty, in writing, with a number of years on it. And the manufacturer certificate that says who backs it if the company isn’t there. One of those is a promise. The other is a policy.

Call the same number. Marisol will find your file, and Wes or Danny will come look — no invoice if it’s ours.
